• The Neverending Stage: My Teaching Journey

    Milad Azarm’s teaching journey began in Iran, where he worked extensively as an instructor at non-profit theater institutions and universities. His teaching experience spans a wide range of courses, from acting theory and performance techniques to the study of dramaturgy and directing.

  • New Season, New Stage: University Teaching

    At Drizhno University of Arts in Shahrekord and Kamal-ol-Molk University in Nowshahr, he taught undergraduate and graduate students courses including Fundamentals of Directing, Advanced Directing, History of Theatre in Iran, and Comparative Studies of Eastern and Western Theatre Theories. His commitment to arts education also led him to teach at various performing arts schools, where he introduced students to acting techniques, dramaturgy, and the Viewpoints method.

  • However, the show must go on!

    Since 2021, Milad has been contributing to the academic community at Ohio University, where he has taught as both a teaching assistant and instructor. His courses include Theater and Performance History, Seminar in Theater History and Drama, and Viewing the Arts, offered across in-person and online platforms. Milad’s teaching focuses on contemporary and avant-garde theater, and he emphasizes collaborative learning and critical thinking in his classes. His dedication to teaching was recognized with the prestigious Seigfred Outstanding Teacher Award by the School of Interdisciplinary Arts at Ohio University in 2025.

    Milad’s teaching philosophy centers on creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment, where students are encouraged to explore, experiment, and think critically about the intersections of performance, theory, and society. His diverse experience, from classroom lectures to practical workshops, reflects his commitment to fostering a holistic understanding of the performing arts in both academic and community settings.
